There are many similar examples: “Superman returns” with Nicholas Cage from Tim Berton, the “Justice League” George Miller, “I am a legend” from Ridley Scott with “Iron Arnie”, a long -suffering epic with a third “ghost hunters” and so on. There are also interesting examples in Russia, and today I would like to tell about four similar films.

Blood “Blue Army”

Let’s start our excursion with the nineties, or rather, since 1993. The “Schindler list” Spielberg is released on large screens, and the little Russian viewers are happy to watch the “Call of the Jungle” with Sergey Suponev. Then the Russian cinema was in a state of coma: the film distribution was completely destroyed, and domestic cinema is not interested in anyone. However, the Bondarchuk dynasty wanted to break this paradigm.

In September 1993, the young studio Art Pictures announced work on her first full -length project “Blue Army”. Fedor Bondarchuk was responsible for the script (the script was originally written by Ivan Okhlobystin), and the young clipmaker Stepan Mikhalkov sat in the directorial chair. Maxim Fadeev was supposed to write music for the film.

The film itself was supposed to talk about the life and love of a simple Soviet soldier (Fedor Bondarchuk) against the backdrop of the war in the Basmachi. The action was supposed to unfold in the past and in the future, where Sergey Bondarchuk was supposed to play an elderly soldier. The studio described the film as “Incontocused by Western about the relationship of two generations”. The Blue Army was supposed to be the first Russian film shot using Dolby Stereo.

But the project was canceled due to the death of Sergei Bondarchuk. The legendary director died of a heart attack in the 94th year, without completing his last project-the film adaptation of the Pacific Don Sholokhov. Already in the zero, Fedor finished his father’s work and presented the audience with the last work of his father in the form of a Russian-British-Italian series with Rupert Everett.

Having gained experience, Voitinsky decided to try his hand at big cinema – so in 2005 the director announced the set of a large -scale historical blockbuster about the life of Prince Dmitry Donskoy and his desire to unite all Rus’. Alexander explained his choice of the film by the fact that he wanted to find a “national idea” and tell her youth.

But most people were surprised by the casting for the role of the Don. Initinsky saw in the role of the prince of Roma himself the beast. The director considered that you need to communicate with youth in her own language, and Roma adore this very youth. Shooting was to be held in Moscow, Kalmykia and in Europe. The director promised large-scale action scenes in the spirit of the Lord of the Rings, and the script itself was already ready. The film was planned to spend solid 3-4 million dollars, and planned to release it in 2008.

But after a while, Alexander refused the filming of the film due to fears regarding the line of war with the Tatars. Voitinsky considered that this topic contains the “Grain”, which will prevent Russian society from consolidating. After the director left the project, the project was scattered: Voitinsky went to shoot Black Lightning, the first Russian film about the superhero, and the “animals” continued to produce songs and perform at concerts.

Now we will move to the tenths – already in 2014. The Winter Olympiad in Sochi was held with pomp, and films like “John Wick” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” were going on in cinemas. Then, in Hollywood, the Avengers from Marvel became fashionable due to the success of the Avengers, and this success was noticed by producer Igor Zadorin.

In 2014, Zadorin announced the beginning of work on the “Bogatyr” – a rethinking of ancient Russian fairy tales. Ekaterina Grokhovskaya, who shot one of the worst Russian films – “The Flower of the Devil”, was chosen as a director.

In accordance with the plot, everything is standard: the hero Ratibor goes on a campaign on Koshchei the Immortal, who, with the help of his troops and the snake of Gorynych, wants to destroy all of humanity. According to the authors, the task of the film is to popularize heroes in mass culture (Hold it in your head).

The script of the film “Bogatyr” reflects my current perception of life, corresponds to my patriotic education, which I carry into the masses. To this I call you and youth.

The players of sports in powerlifting and the former Marine Mikhail Shivlyakov approved the role of Ratibor, and the release was assigned for 2016. In the 15th year, the first trailer was introduced at Comic Con Russia, and a little later it was taken to Berlin to the EFM market, where distributors from Europe and America became interested in them. Zadorin was already thinking about plans for a whole heroic cinematic. It seemed that we were waiting for a grand blockbuster in Russian folklore a year before the “last hero” from the Russian Disney.

But the film never came out and there is no official information about the reasons for the cancellation. Many agree that the reason was the absence of a distributor – perhaps the “Devil flower” played a role with his assessment of 1.6 in Kinopoisk. After that, Grokhovskaya directed only the animated series “Defenders” and tried to launch another long -building in the person of the “Magic Cup of Rorrim Bo”, and one of the Sveshnikov brothers, Vadim, wrote scripts for two films of the Bogatyr saga from STV.

The idea to remove a blockbuster about Soviet superheroes was born with Sarik in 2013, and already in the 14th, screenwriter Andrei Gavrilov wrote a full-fledged script. In 2015, after the completion of the filming, Sarik began to think about creating a whole KVM cinematic station: a book and a comic book were already published, a second part was planned, the actions of which were supposed to take place in China. Sarik discussed with President Riki Ilya Popov plans for the animated series for “defenders” (not the one that was shot by Grokhovskaya).

When two years ago they brought me the first materials on the “defenders”, I caught fire with this topic. Sarik Andreasyan and I discussed the idea of ​​creating the Universe, launch animated projects and everything around, but there was little material.

And that’s not all. In addition to the cinematic “defenders”, Sarik announced the creation of another cinematic union – this time by the motive for the books of the Russian science fiction writer Alexander Belyaev. It was planned that the first film from Belyaev-Verse, the crossover “Selected” with the participation of Ariel, Ichthyandra and other heroes, was supposed to be released in 2018.

But the second “defenders”, as the “elect” did not follow. There are many reasons for this.

Low fees of the film. With a budget of $ 5 million, he raised only 4. Even despite world fees (9 million), 11 million did not save the situation;

Sarika’s departure from Enjoy Movies. In May 2017, Sarik announced the departure from Enjoy Movies founded in 2010, on the capacities of which he made “defenders”. Two months later, in July, the Kino Foundation sued the studio demanding to return 51 million rubles, because of which the studio gasped and announced bankruptcy;

Powerful criticism. During the release of the film, many destroyed the picture, calling it in an urgent man a “carpet” of the Marvel “Avengers”. Moreover, according to critics, the film for $ 5 million looks worse than a short film on the 2015 Major, shot for 1 million;

“Deadpool 2”. At one of the podcasts, Sarik said that the sequel of his superhero blockbuster did not take place due to the exit of the sequel of another superhero blockbuster with Ryan Reynolds. The director considered that the film was “Absolutely our story”.

After a loud failure of the picture about a bear with a gun and a quick Kazakh, Sarik founded a new studio, and after a while, Russian comic book fans waited for a worthy movie on comics – “Major Thunder: Chum Doctor”.

The reasons why they can cancel the film at any stage of production – from the pre -prison to the finished film – can be any. This can be a banal shortage of budget, the death of the actor, the failure of the last film of the director or creative disagreements. Now such films are called “Lost Media Lost”, and they are of increased interest, because it is always interesting how the film could turn out if everything went as it was conceived.
